Rome, July 12 (IANS/AKI) Rescue teams have found the corpses of two climbers who went missing in the Alps in northwest Italy.
The climbers' bodies were found in a stream at the bottom of a precipice in the Gran Paradiso national park in Piedmont region.
Valter Corniati, 61, and Maria Teresa Pieri, 57, both from the town of Biella are believed to have slipped in deep snow and fallen after giving up an attempt to reach the summit of the 3,600-metre-high Gran Paradiso mountain.
Corniati and Pieri were experienced climbers and were well equipped for the expedition.
Rescue teams searched for the pair for two days after another climber raised the alarm when they failed to return to their shelter Sunday.
