Two police operations were underway on Thursday in the Brussels district of Ixelles, two days after over 30 people were killed in bombings at the airport and a metro station in the Belgian capital, media reports said.

Citing Belgian newspaper Le Soir, Xinhua said part of the Chaussee d'Ixelles street was evacuated and a security perimeter set up, with a large number of officers reportedly on the ground.

A man was being questioned after his car was searched by police on Thursday morning.

A second police operation was taking place further along the street. Le Soir said the two operations, although happening in the same area, were not necessarily linked.

No further information was provided in order not to jeopardise the investigation, the newspaper added.

Blasts ripped through the Zaventeen airport and a metro station in Brussels on Tuesday, killing more than 30 people. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks.
