Two policemen were killed and four others injured when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden car next to a police checkpoint in Nawzad district of Afghanistan's southern Helmand province Friday, police said.
"A suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden car next to a police checkpoint in Nawzad district at around 11.30 a.m. today, killing two policemen and injuring four others," Xinhua quoted provincial police spokesman Farid Ahmad Obid as telling reporters.
The bomber was also killed in the blast, he added.
He blamed Taliban militants for the attack.
Taliban militants fighting the government to regain power had carried out two suicide bombings in Kabul Thursday.
