UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon Friday arrived in Liberia's capital Monrovia for a one-day official visit to assess the response to the Ebola crisis.

The UN secretary general is leading an 18-member delegation which includes Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Xinhua reported.

Liberia's Vice President Joseph Boakai received Ban at the Roberts International Airport.

Also at the airport to welcome the UN chief was the Special Representative of the Secretary General, Madam Karen Landgren, and heads of country teams.

The UN secretary general and his delegation will later meet President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

The delegation will participate in an Incident Management System meeting at Monrovia City Hall, and hold a meeting with Sirleaf and other senior government officials.
