With the three-phase urban body polls over, political leaders from Uttar Pradesh, including Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, are now headed to poll-bound Gujarat.
Akhilesh Yadav will be touring the state between December 4 and 7, party state spokesman Rajendra Choudhary said on Thursday.
The SP, which fought the February-March assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh in alliance with the Congress, is fighting the Gujarat polls alone.
However, for the "sake of secularism", it has extended support to Congress candidates in Gujarat and has fielded his candidates in five seats only.
The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister will start his election campaign from Jamnagar, which has a sizable population of people from eastern UP.
Congress leaders from Uttar Pradesh, including its state chief Raj Babbar, P.L. Punia, former Union Minister R.P.N. Singh, Manoj Tyagi and Nadeem Javed are also visiting Gujarat soon to woo the minorities, the scheduled castes and Poorvanchalis.
