The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday brought out a booklet with a compilation of 'Get well soon' messages and other nice comments for the Swiss couple who were brutally assaulted and injured in Agra on October 22.

The booklet, which carries Twitter messages and news cuttings on the incident, was released by Director General of Police (DGP) Sulkhan Singh here.

The UP Police had launched a 'Get well soon' campaign for the Swiss couple, Quentin Jeremy Clerc and his partner Marie Droz, both in their 20s, who while strolling around a railway track in Fatehpur Sikri were attacked by local youth. The police had also appealed to people to tweet comments with the hashtag #GWSMarieAndJeremy.

Thousands has sent in their comments on this and they have been compiled in the book, Rahul Srivastava, PRO to the DGP, told IANS.

On the directions of the DGP, Srivastava and the SSP, Agra, Amit Pathak personally handed over a copy of the booklet to the deputy head of the Swiss mission in India, Tamara Mona, and Raveesh Kumar, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson.

Srivastava said the media in Switzerland has done stories on this campaign of the UP Police and the unique initiative has been appreciated a lot. "The idea was a goodwill gesture on the part of the UP Police. Initially our focus was to arrest the guilty and bring them to book, and after that we thought of the Swiss couple and their ordeal and decided to express our solidarity with them through this gesture in the form of a booklet," the official added.
