State capital Lucknow and other places in Uttar Pradesh continued to reel under intense heat on a bright and sunny day on Thursday with the Met Office promising no immediate relief from the scorcher.
The weather office here said maximum temperatures across the state were expected to rise further during the next 24 hours.
"Bundelkhand region and parts of western UP will see as much as three degrees rise in day temperatures," said UP meteorological department director J.P. Gupta
"The sky would be clear and the day would remain sunny on Thursday. Bundelkhand and some places of west Uttar Pradesh is most likely to witness a rise in temperature by three degrees," said J.P Gupta, director of weather department.
"The dry weather is causing a rise in the temperature day by day," Gupta added.
According to the Met department, Lucknow witnessed a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Other major cities of Uttar Pradesh also witnessed minimum temperatures in the high range. Varanasi recorded a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, Allahabad experienced 29.1 degrees, Kanpur saw 28.2 degrees and Jhansi recorded 28 degrees Celsius.
