In a musical tribute to celebrated American female singers Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin, budding Indian singer Sanjeeta Bhattacharya will spearhead a concert at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) here on Saturday.

The concert "Tribute to Legends: Billie, Ella and Aretha" will be a journey through "timeless soul stirring ballads to foot tapping swing tunes", and will have the 23-year-old Bhattacharya paying homage to the singing legends.

"The legends that will be honoured through this tribute are musicians who have been numero unos in their respective genres," NCPA said in a statement.

The list includes Aretha Franklin, the singer known as the "Queen of the Soul"; Billie Holiday, the foremost name in American jazz music and pop singing; and Ella Fitzgerald, widely hailed as the "First Lady of Song" and "Queen of Jazz".

"Embraceable You", "I Never Loved a Man", "Blue Skies" and "Love for Sale" are a few of the songs that will be performed, NCPA said.

In addition to the powerful voice of Bhattacharya, the concert will see Rythem Bansal on keys, Takar Nabam on guitar, Sonic Shori on bass and Aditya Dutta on drums. The quintet have previously played at the Panama Jazz Festival.
