The US and coaltion forces are continuing with air strikes on Islamic State (IS) targets in Syria and Iraq over the past three days, the US Defense Department said in a statement Wednesday.
The forces have launched 13 air strikes in Iraq and in Syria, seven strikes near Kobani destroyed five IS positions, Xinhua reported citing the statement.
In Iraq, the attacks destroyed six IS-occupied buildings, four storage containers and two fighting positions.
The strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, which aims to eliminate the IS terrorist group and the threat they pose to Iraq and the wider international community, the statement said.
Destruction of IS targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the terrorist group's ability to project terror and conduct operations, it added.
Coalition countries conducting air strikes in Iraq include the US, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Netherlands and Britain, while those conducting air strikes in Syria include the US, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
