The US stands "united" with France against terrorism, US President Barack Obama said on Tuesday.
At a joint press conference with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, Obama said the Islamic State militant group cannot be tolerated and must be destroyed, Xinhua reported.
"The United States and France stand united, in total solidarity, to deliver justice to these terrorists," the US president said.
Obama also said that Turkey has the right to defend its territory and airspace after a Russian warplane was downed by the country, urging measures should be taken to avoid an escalation of tension.
