The US has come forward to develop the Aviation City in Andhra Pradesh, the state government said on Wednesday.

This was discussed during a meeting between Henry Steingass, regional director for south and south east Asia at the US Trade Development Agency (USTDA), and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Wednesday.

An airport and Aviation City will be developed over 1,000 acres of land.

A 1,000 MW micro power grid will also be set up for the proposed project, said a statement from the office of the chief minister.

The US has already agreed to partner in the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor and the development of Visakhapatnam as a smart city. The smart city will be developed with education, health, food park and other facilities.

Naidu told the USTDA official that the face of Visakhapatnam would change with the development of a signature tower, convention centres, star hotels and commercial malls.

The chief minister said the state government would constitute a task force comprising officials for the smart city, which will be developed by the US in partnership with the Indian government.
