US Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday said the US is ready to offer any necessary support to Turkey after the July 15 failed coup attempt against the Turkish government.
"We express in no uncertain terms the continuing, unwavering support of the US for Turkey in the wake of last month's attempted coup. As I reiterated to the Prime Minister, we are available and ready to provide any assistance that the Turkish government or Turkish people need," Sputnik news agency quoted Biden as saying during his visit to the country.
He described the coup attempt, which involved military strikes on the Turkish parliament building, as an attack against the heart of democracy, adding that the US is impressed by the popular resistance shown to the coup perpetrators.
