The US government will spend more than $110 million to boost clean energy in the country.
The Department of Energy (DOE) will provide the major funding, more than $102 million for solar energy, said the DOE on Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
More than $52 million will support 22 new projects in partnership with companies, non-profit organisations, universities and national laboratories that aim to make solar energy more affordable and accessible across the nation.
"The projects announced today will help more communities nationwide reach the goals laid out in the Clean Power Plan, while ensuring that the US continues to lead the world in clean energy innovation," said Energy Secretary Moniz.
