Chief secretary Jawed Usmani said that under the first phase, godowns with a storage capacity of 18.60 lakh metric tonnes would be constructed.
Officials have also been asked to ensure that food storage godowns with 4.6 lakh metric tonnes capacity are built by Dec and ones with 2.5 lakh metric tonne by March 2014.
The chief secretary announced that private players who purchase land for building warehouses would get a waiver in stamp duty fee.
