Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra on Tuesday termed as a "petty diversion" the government's intent to discuss his land deals when the opposition demanded a discussion on the Vyapam scam.

On the first day of parliament's monsoon session, union Minister Ravi Sankar Prasad told reporters he wanted to discuss in the Rajya Sabha Vadra's land deal in Bikaner in Rajasthan. Prasad's proposal was apparently a counter to the opposition demand for a discussion on Vyapam recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh.

It prompted a response on Twitter from Vadra, who tweeted: "Parliament begins and so does their petty diversion political tactics. People of India are not fooled. Regret to see India led by such so called leaders."
