FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke on Thursday denied allegations involving a $10 million payment to fix the 2010 World Cup for South Africa.

"The $10 million payment didn't come from a FIFA account. I didn't have the power to authorise a payment. I don't know what my role is in this corruption story," Valcke was quoted as saying by goal.com.

The Frenchman has insisted he had no part to play in the deal and believes there is no reason why he should leave his position anytime soon.

"I have no reason to say I wouldn't stay secretary general. I can't blame myself for anything. I don't have to prove that I am innocent. It will be up to the next FIFA president to decide who he wants as secretary general," he said.

Last week, the US Department of Justice alleged the amount of money was paid as a bribe with New York Times reporting that Valcke played a pivotal role in transferring the funds to the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) -- then led by the indicted Jack Warner.
