Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has accused the media of inventing stories which suggest that former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho is having discussions with the top-level club management.
Van Gaal's position has been under intense scrutiny in the last few months with United falling behind in the English Premier League title race.
"You've spoken with (chief executive) Ed Woodward? Why does the club have to deny it, when you are creating stories?" van Gaal was quoted as saying by the Independent on Monday as the Dutchman responded to queries by a journalist.
"OK. So you didn't speak to Ed Woodward, not with the Glazers (owners) and you are inventing a story. And then I have to answer this question. I don't answer this question. And I shall repeat myself every week."
"Now I have to say that you (a reporter) are getting the sack tomorrow. What is your name? Then I can announce your name also," he added.

On the other hand, Mourinho had hinted a few days ago that he would like to continue his coaching career in England.
"At this moment I don't know where football will take me, because in football you never know. But as a family, our home will be in London," he had said.
