Filmmaker Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is thrilled to be teaming up with actor Vijay Antony for the upcoming Tamil film "Kaali". She believes he has become the go-to person for out-of-the-box content.
"Unlike most heroes, Vijay doesn't want to do something formulaic. If you have an exciting script, even slightly out-of-the-box, he will be ready to listen and his support increases the potential of any new content," Kiruthiga told IANS.
"Kaali", to be bankrolled by Vijay Antony Film Corporation, will be a family entertainer.
Talking about how the project materialised, she said: "I met Vijay last year when he was simultaneously shooting for 'Saithan' and 'Yaman'. He told me he will listen to my script once he is relieved of these projects. When I met him three months later, I pitched a crime-thriller."
Although he liked her sensibilities, he wasn't quite sure about the project.
"He said let's work together and see how things pan out. This is when I pitched the script of 'Kaali', which is very close to my heart, and he liked it very much. We start shooting from May and we are currently busy finalising the rest of the cast," she said.

The film features Vijay in multiple roles.
Being tight-lipped about the number of roles Vijay will be essaying, Kiruthiga said: "Let it be a surprise element."
