Senior Congress leader Viplove Thakur was Friday elected to the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur was elected unopposed after the expiry of time for withdrawal of nomination papers, officials said.
The Rajya Sabha seat, the election to which was due Feb 7, is being vacated by Bharatiya Janata Party leader and two-time chief minister Shanta Kumar.
Thakur, 70, a three-time legislator, was a minister in the Virbhadra Singh government in the state from 1995 to 1998. She was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2012.
