The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may find it quite difficult to conduct a thorough probe into the Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam as a lot of suspected documents related to various exams have already been destroyed as "waste papers".

Vyapam president M.M. Upadhyay told IANS that any exam material is not kept beyond six months of the exam. Any exam related material is held back beyond this duration only if there is any court case related to any specific examination.

The Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal or Vyapam in Madhya Pradesh holds a number of entrance exams, including the Pre-Medical Test (PMT), Pre-PG Test, and recruitment exams for various government departments, excluding the state Public Service Commission.

According to social activist Amulya Nidhi, since the examinations related material is not available, it is expected to become the biggest challenge for the CBI.

Citing the information obtained by Abhay Gupta, who filed a plea in the Supreme Court related to the Vyapam scam, Nidhi said Vyapam does not possess any exam related material like question papers or answersheets related to any exam held before 2008.

Based on the documents presented before the court by the Special Task Force, petitioner Chopra told IANS that the controller of exams of the Vyapam on January 21, 2014, had informed the STF in writing that no pre-2008 question papers or answersheets are with Vyapam.

The controller submitted that question papers, answersheets and RASA (optical mark recognition) related only to 2008 PMT, 2009 Pre-PG Test and PMT, 2010 PMT and Pre-PG, and 2011 PMT and Pre-PG and thenceforth were in possession of the Vyapam.
