Rapper Jay Z has condemned drugs laws that target minorities.

In an opinion piece for the New York Times, the rapper labels the fight against drugs an "epic fail", reports mirror.co.uk.

The star claims that racial injustice has contributed to the issue, and he has urged the government to change policies that target the Black and Latino communities.

"Rates of drug use are as high as they were when Nixon declared this so-called war in 1971," states the singer in the illustrated video.

"Forty-five years later, it's time to rethink our policies and laws. The war on drugs is an epic fail."

It's not the first time Jay Z has used his celebrity status to speak out about social injustice.
