Marking the onset of a warm summer, the capital on Friday recorded a minimum temperature of 21.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, the weather office said.
The temperatures on Thursday and Friday morning showed an increase in the average for this time of the year, and the days were hotter than last year, observed the weather office.
On Friday, the maximum was likely to hover around 38 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 55 percent while the visibility stood at 2,000 metres.
"The sky would remain partly cloudy throughout the day with mist/haze likely to occur on Saturday morning," the IMD official said in a forecast for the next day.
Thursday's maximum temperature settled at 37.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average, IMD said.
