Actress Claire Danes says she used to always try to portray an adult image when she was a teenager.
The actress said that it was only when she hit her twenties when she realised that adult life was not simple either, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"I was way too serious and overly concerned with trying to project this adult self. When I hit my twenties, I figured out that adults don't really have that much certainty about their lives either," Britain's OK! magazine quoted Danes as saying.
The actress said that her friends stood by her during her teenage years.
"I was a pretty messed up and misanthropic teenager, and it was good for me to find some good friends whom I could talk to and get rid of some of my angst," she added.
Danes is now married to Hugh Dancy and the couple has a nine-month-old boy Cyrus.
