Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said his party was ready to discuss the Agusta Westland VVIP chopper deal provided rules were followed.

"Agusta Westland was discussed at length in the last session. But if they want to discuss it again, we are ready. They should follow certain rules and bring it on the agenda," said Kharge.

He was speaking to the media in Parliament premises.

He also accused the government of taking up the issue to divert people's attention from the demonetisation issue.

"They are raising Agusta Westland issue, they are displaying posters in the house. Their intention is to divert," he said.

"They are not ready to listen to us. We had also spoken to the Speaker on this."

Kharge added: "They are creating ruckus. They are not allowing Rahul Gandhi to speak. The floor leaders of the opposition parties wanted to talk. They are also being stopped by the government's brute majority.

"Today again adjournments happened after every five minutes. The government is running away from discussions. They want the winter session to get over without discussion," he added.
