The state Bharatiya Janata Party unit Wednesday promised 10 lakh low-cost flats and "Chhath Puja" holiday to Poorvanchalis if it won the November assembly elections.
People from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are called Poorvanchalis.
"Though 70 per cent of the workers here come from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, they stay in slums and irregular colonies. We will construct 10 lakh low-cost flats, especially for people from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh," party's state chief Vijay Goel said.
He said: "We will also declare 'Chhath' festival a gazetted holiday."
Goel added: "In the 15-year rule of Congress in Delhi, the condition of such workers has deteriorated as 30 percent of the total migrant population is still to get ration cards."
