Having been apprised by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about the money due to West Bengal under various central schemes, union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Saturday assured her that the matter will be looked into.
"The chief minister has given me a letter of the outstanding amounts under the various (central) schemes which the state is entitled to. We are certainly going to examine it," Jaitley told media persons after meeting with Banerjee at the state secretariat here.
With state Finance Minister Amit Mitra slated to visit Delhi later in the month, Jaitley said officials concerned will be called to look into the state's dues.
"The finance minister (Mitra) is coming to Delhi and we will call the concerned departments handling the schemes so that the dues of Bengal government can be looked into," he added.
