New England One-Day International (ODI) skipper Eoin Morgan has said that a win against India Friday will boost their confidence and build the team's momentum ahead of their World Cup campaign, starting Feb 14.

India will take on England in the last group match of the tri-series here Friday. The match will serve as a virtual semi-final as the winner will face hosts Australia in the summit clash Sunday.

"So as momentum and confidence goes, it's quite a big game. (Plus) the opportunity to play in a final -- given we've got to get past India and produce some high-class cricket to get past India. The opportunity to play Australia on Sunday is huge," Morgan was quoted as saying by The Sydney Morning Herald.

The 28-year-old added that their prime focus will be to make it to the final Sunday given their string of poor performances before the tri-series.

"It is important (making it to the finals) given the lack of success we've had before this tour. We've built a lot of confidence in our preparation in the game in Brisbane and in the performances leading into the start of this series."

Morgan took over the reigns from Alastair Cook shortly after the tour of Sri Lanka where England lost the ODI series 2-5.
