Software major Wipro Ltd. on Wednesday announced appointing Paypal Holdings executive Patrick Dupuis as an independent director from April 1.
"Dupuis will serve as an independent director on the board. He brings a rich experience of 30 years, having helped shape the financial strategy of leading firms in a range of industries, including healthcare, business process management and customer service," the IT major said in a statement here.
Dupuis is a senior vice president in the American firm PayPal, which operates a worldwide online payments system. His role in the payment gateway is to identify and pursue opportunities to simplify and optimise processes across the business.
"Dupuis has a combination of financial acumen and understanding of driving cultural and operational transformation. I am confident we will benefit from his experience," Wipro chairman Azim Premji said in the statement.
Dupuis joined PayPal in 2010 as chief financial officer to help it expand globally and build a sustainable growth company. He was also instrumental in its separation from eBay and listing on the American stock exchange Nasdaq in 2015.
"I am privileged to be invited to join the board of Wipro Ltd., a company respected, for its business excellence and commitment to values. I look forward to contribute to the company as it prepares for its next phase of growth," Dupuis said.
He graduated from the Ecole de Management de Lyon in France.
