Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Tuesday said it has secured a court order restraining Hainz India from making or selling Glucon D energy tablets.
"The city civil court in Hyderabad has awarded an ex-parte, ad-interim injunction restraining Heinz India Ltd from manufacturing, marketing, distributing, offering or advertising for sale, as its product was seen deceptively similar to our Glucovita Bolts energy tablets," Wipro Enterprises Ltd said in a statement here.
Though Wipro's glucose powder was received well in the market due to its taste, Heinz launched a similar product last month under Glucon D Volt brand name.
"We initiated legal action against Heinz after we learnt that it has launched glucose-based tablets similar to our tablets. Apart from the similar sounding brand name, Heinz has used key elements of communication, colour scheme, getup and tag line aenergy anytime anywhere' from the packaging of our Glucovita Bolts," Wipro Consumer Care Business chief executive Anil Chugu said in the statement.
