A Chinese woman has been arrested for claiming that police fired their weapons at a tourist site in central China's Hubei province, police said Wednesday.
The woman, surnamed Feng, wrote on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, that she saw police officers fire their weapons thrice in order to impose order at a rafting area, Xinhua reports.
"The shootings caused a stampede and one man was critically injured," she wrote.
Police in Yichang, where the rafting area is located, Tuesday arrested Feng for fabricating rumours.
