A 40-year-old woman was battered to death with a stone near a night shelter here, police said Saturday.
Sukhmati's body, in the pool of blood, was spotted by a passerby near the Uttam Nagar metro station in west Delhi Saturday morning. Deep injury marks were found on her head and other body parts.
Police said she was staying at a night shelter near the metro station with her husband, Jageshwar, and 20-year-old son. She was missing from Friday night.
"It seem she was also sexually assaulted before she was attacked with a stone. Her clothes were disordered," said a police officer.
