A court here sentenced a woman to life in jail for beating and strangulating her husband as he was against her illicit relationship with another person.
Pronouncing sentence on 45-year-old Guddi, who has been lodged in jail for last six years on charges of murdering her husband Ram Chander, Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau, however, said the case does not fall under the rarest of rare category, attracting the death penalty.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs.15,000 on her.
Ram Chander was a resident of village Qutub Garh here and was running an ayurvedic dispensary.
The court, however, acquitted Guddi's paramour Bijender Singh of the charges.
"The murder of Ram Chander had been committed without any instigation from his side only because she (Guddi) wanted her husband out of her way as she was having illicit relations with Bijender Singh and Ram Chander and his brother had come to know of it and often objected to the same."

On July 1, 2007, Guddi and Bijender had abducted Ram Chander and took him to a plot where they murdered him, as per the prosecution.
The accused had beaten the victim, who was under the influence of alcohol, with bricks and later strangulated him, police said, adding that the accused had buried the body in the same plot in an effort to conceal the crime.
The court said: "Guddi had murdered her husband by due planning in a brutal manner i.e. first by giving brick blows on his head, thereafter manually strangulating and then in order to destroy all evidence of her crime, she buried his body in her newly-purchased plot."
The court refused to grant any leniency to Guddi, who pleaded that she was not involved in any other case and there was no one to look after her two sons and a daughter.
