A woman was killed and her daughter critically injured when a three-storey building collapsed in the Azad Market here on Friday, police said.
The Fire Control Room received a call about the building collapse around 4.15 p.m., after which six fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a fire officer said.
"Jimla, 47, was declared brought dead while her daughter Komal, 23, was admitted to the Hindu Rao Hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Madhur Verma told IANS.
It was a 100-year-old decrepit building in the Azad market in north district, wherein two families reside. There were three residential flats in the building, Verma said.
"One of the families had gone to their hometown in Bihar for Chhath Puja celebrations. The other family, of which Jimla and Komal were members, stayed back," the police officer said.
