A woman suicide bomber was killed after detonating explosive devices at a college in Nigeria's Niger State Wednesday, security sources said. Many students also suffered injuries in the attack.
The incident occurred at the Federal College of Education in Kontagora area of the state. The bomber was the only casualty confirmed so far, but many students sustained various degrees of injury, Xinhua quoted sources as saying.
The suspected bomber was burnt beyond recognition, provost of the college Nathaniel Daniel told reporters. He declined to give further details of the incident.
A staff of the college said the suspected bomber detonated the bomb near the college library.
Niger State police spokesman Ibrahim Gambari said it is unclear if it was a perpetration of Boko Haram, a terror group known to have stiff opposition to Western education in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa.
Wednesday's bomb attack occurred two days after a suicide bomber blew himself up Monday at a high school in northeastern Nigeria's restive Yobe State, killing dozens of students and injuring more.
