A three-day workshop on enforcing intellectual property rights (IPRs) will get underway here from Tuesday for various concerned agencies, including the police, according to workshop organiser, the Union Commerce Ministry.

"Enforcement agencies like police, customs, as also the prosecution wing, have a major role to play in effective enforcement of IPRs in the country," an official statement said.

"This workshop will help enforcement agencies across the country understand and appreciate the importance of their role in IPR enforcement," it said.

Increasing awareness about these rights amongst officials of enforcement agencies would assist them in handling IPR-related cases, the statement added.

According to the Commerce Ministry, the workshop will also act as a platform for officials to share their experiences, best practices and facilitate better inter-agency coordination.
