Domestic electronics company Videocon in collaboration with technology giant Microsoft on Wednesday launched the world's first Windows 10-powered TV at a price of Rs.39,990.
"In these changing times, we realised the needs of our consumers of having easy access to technology at their convenience and therefore we designed world's first hybrid TV cum PC," Akshay Dhoot, head of technology and innovation, Videocon, said.
"With this TV, students can now easily create and share school assignments, home makers can curate and share recipes with the world, and professionals can work outside of their offices. This is one product that every member of the family can use regardless of their age," he added.
According to Videocon, the Windows 10 powered TV lets users move quickly from browsing to typing notes directly on web pages, and sharing them with others.
"The hybrid device can also cast screens and allows access to social media tools like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. The dual function of the LED Windows 10 powered TV makes it a perfect fit for one's room where one can easily switch from work on PC to entertainment leisure on TV," Videocon said in a release.
The new device also has an in-built Wi-Fi function that automatically connects with the available networks for smooth internet accessibility.
"Windows 10 has received an overwhelming response from customers which is evident from our milestone achievement of 110+ million downloads globally and now with this innovative product, we intend to extend the great Windows 10 experience to more and more users," Vineet Durani, director-Windows business group, Microsoft, said.
