The 12th edition of the World Spice Congress, the world's largest exclusive business platform for the sector, will begin here Feb 16.
The biennial event, jointly organised by Spices Board of India and All India Spice Exporter's Forum, will bring together global thought leaders, grower representatives, policy defining bodies as well as leading players from the spice industry, food and beverages companies on one platform.
The congress will see participation of around 700 delegates from more than 40 countries.
This year's theme is 'Sustainability and Food Safety: Global Initiatives'.
"...The global spice industry will put heads together to define and set the right direction to secure a sustainable future for the industry, while also examining the industry's ecological and social impact," said Spices Board chairman A. Jayathilak.
Some of the dignitaries to participate include Daniele Giovannucci, president of the Committee of Sustainability Assessment, US, Tony Bruggink, director of The Sustainable Trade Initiative, the Netherlands, Maragaret A. Hamburg, commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, among others.
