A career diplomat and graduate of the world-renowned Yale University, Edgard Kagan, has taken over as the new US Consul-General here, an official said on Tuesday.
Kagan's immediate previous assignment was as the deputy chief of mission at the US embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Joining the US Foreign Service in 1991, Kagan, who succeeded Tom Vajda, brings with him a rich experience in different postings, including deputy director of the US Mission to the UN in Washington, besides diplomatic posts in China, Australia, Israel, Hungary and Cote d'Ivore.
"My family and I are honoured to be representing our country here in western India. I look forward to meeting people across our western Indian consular district and to working together to advance the US-Indian partnership on all levels," Kagan said.
The US Consul-General is accompanied in Mumbai by his wife and three children.
