Yash Aradhya, a 13-year-old schoolboy from Bengaluru, will be representing India in the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy karting series to be held across Europe later this year.

The Class 6 student of the Bishop Cotton Boys School here won the right to represent the country after emerging Micro Max champion in the 2014 JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax Max Karting Championship.

The three competitions of the 2015 calendar will take place alongside the CIK-FIA European and World Championships in Zuera, Spain (June 22-25), Genk, Belgium (July 10-12) and Le Mans, France (September 11-13).

Aradhya, ranked fourth in Asia, said: "This year has been the best in my life that came with a great team effort. Akbar Ebrahim's mentoring, team Meco Racing support and my hard work paid off."

"This nomination is really very special and I could not believe when my father told me about it. Now that this opportunity has come, I am working very hard to put in all my best effort and bring laurels. I would like to thank my parents and my sponsors for putting their faith and trust on me."

Aradhya's mentor Ebrahim said: "Yash came to me as a nine-year-old and has been under my guidance since the day he started karting. From Day 1, it was obvious that he had raw speed in him that could be moulded. He is a diligent young man who follows every tutorial carefully and has worked on his cardio fitness and nutrition without a break."

"His hard work is now showing dividends and the results are a sign of good things to come from him in the future," Ebrahim said.

"Now, with the CIK-FIA Academy providing a global platform, I believe that the best is yet to come. I wish him good luck and hope he keeps up the momentum while keeping his head firmly planted on his shoulders."
