West Bengal Governor K.N. Tripathi on Friday said he is "yet to receive any official communication" on the situation in Darjeeling, where the army has been called in following widespread violence unleashed by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM)stir.
"Let me receive (an) official communication. I am yet to receive any official communication," Tripathi told the media here on sidelines of inauguration of the Tagore Centre for Natural Science and Philosophy.
Demanding a separate Gorkhaland state, thousands of angry GJM activists on Thursday indulged in arson and pelted stones at police, injuring 15, in Darjeeling.
The GJM has called for a 12-hour shutdown on Friday to protest "indiscriminate police action on the peaceful demonstration" by its workers.
