A teenage girl was stabbed in the face by her lover for allegedly trying to walk off from the relationship in West Bengal's North 24-Pargana district, the state police said on Tuesday.
The attack took place at Sarkarbagan in North 24-Pargana's Halisahar on Monday night.
"The accused (18), attacked the girl with a knife and stabbed her on the face during an altercation over relationship issues," Bijpir police station chief, Inspector Gaurav Banerjee, said.
The girl has been admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital in Kalyani with grievous injuries in the cheek.
The police arrested the attacker and presented him before a Barrackpore court on Tuesday afternoon.
"He is charged with assault or criminal force to woman (IPC 354), attempt to murder (IPC 307) and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons (IPC 326)," the officer said.

"He would also be tried under the POCSO Act (Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences) also, as the girl is a minor," the police inspector added.
