The Zambia national football team has shifted its camp to South Africa to intensify preparations ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the country's governing body for the sport said Friday.

"The Chipolopolo (The Bullets) have moved their base to South Africa for an extensive final training program before heading for next month's Africa Cup of Nations finals in Equatorial Guinea," Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

The 2012 Cup of Nations winners will play a friendly game against South Africa in January to give the team management a final assessment of the players before they choose the final team.

Head coach Honor Janza said the friendly game will help him determine the final 23-member squad. The coach added that foreign-based players are expected to join the squad in South Africa.

Zambia are in Group B alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cape Verde and Tunisia.
