On the occasion of Dussehra this year, apart from effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad that were burnt to mark the victory of good over evil, some places worshipped Ravan; one group even organised Ravan-leela.

At one such location in Delhi, an effigy of "Pakistan" was burnt. At another place, the effigies were of chikungunya, dengue and malaria. Cities in north India have battled a scourge of these diseases this monsoon.
