HMT Ltd, the legendary public sector watch, tractor and machine tool maker, was in the news last month after the government announced that it would close it in phases, though it did not specify how long these phases would be. But that has not stopped it providing fresh employment for government servants. An announcement from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet shows that HMT's Bangalore office recently got a new Central Vigilance Officer in Madhu Sharma, who has been appointed for a three-year tenure there.
