The renaming of Gurgaon as Gurugram by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Haryana has given both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reason to criticise it. AAP leader Ashutosh posted this on Twitter: "BJP, by nature, is anti-Dalit, so it renames Gurgaon in honour of Guru Dronacharya (of the Mahabharata) but forgets Ekalavya." The Congress' communication in-charge Randeep Surjewala dismissed the renaming as "an exercise in pure superficiality".
