The CPI(M) and the Trinamool Congress (TC) may be at loggerheads in West Bengal politics but when it comes to development, it seems the TC MPs don’t mind asking for help from their CPI(M) seniors. During the last meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, TC member Nurul Islam told the committee chairman, CPI(M)’s Basudeb Achariya, that the committee should recommend the setting up of an agriculture university in his constituency at Basirhat. Acharya smiled and said he would recommend this to the government.
