Recently at a public rally, Mamata Banerjee debunked suggestions that the Trinamool Congress was against everything foreign or that it opposed foreign direct investment of all kinds. Amid a gathering of eminent Bengalis who attended the rally was footballer Videsh Bose, who played with Mohun Bagan against Pele. She must have spotted Bose in the gathering, for the CM said: "Look, we welcome all things foreign. There's Videsh (foreign) among us".
