<i>Baahubali: The Conclusion</i>'s trailer racks up 50 mn views in 24 hours

Industry experts hinted the sequel will break all box-office records of Indian film industry

Baahubali: The Beginning, a multilingual movie released on 10 July 2015, ended with suspense, leaving a question mark in the minds of audience — why Kattappa killed Baahubali? The makers of the film asked to view its sequel Baahubali: The Conclusion to find the answer.

Ahead of its release on April 28 across the globe, the trailer of the movie was released on Thursday. It received a whopping 50 million views in 24 hours, according to the Twitter account of the movie franchise. 

Though the trailer offers no clues on why Kattappa killed Baahubali, industry experts hinted that with the kind of hype built around the story and the visual effects, the sequel will break all box-office records of the Indian film industry.

The first part was the third-largest grosser (not adjusted for inflation) with a collection of Rs 650 crore ($100 million) across the globe. The trailer of the second part has already created a big buzz in social media. 

"The sequel is expected to cross Rs 1,000 crore ($153 million) in collections worldwide. It will surpass all other hit movies to become the top grosser of the Indian film industry (not adjusted for inflation)," said Telugu Film Producers Council president Burugupalli Sivaramakrishna. 

The first part was released on 4,000 screens globally in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam. The second part will be released across 6,000 screens worldwide in these four languages. 

According to Shobu Yarlagadda of Arka Media Works, one of the producers of the movie, the two parts were produced with a total budget of Rs 450 crore. The first part was made with an investment of Rs 180 crore and the rest was meant for the second part. 

Things like the creation of war sequences and the extensive usage of graphics technology have consumed extra financial resources in the making of the second part. Director S S Rajamouli says the second part will surpass all his expectations and he was sure that the audience would feel the same way once they watch the movie.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is the distribution partner for the Hindi version, while K Productions has the distribution rights for the Tamil version. 

The Global United Media acquired the distribution rights for the Malayalam version.

The film will be released in the US by Great India Entertainment on 600 screens. The US is the next major market for Indian movies after the UK and West Asia (or the Middle East).
