Former Andhra Pradesh Congress chief K Kesava Rao has been put in charge of the party in West Bengal. Rao is aware that while a large section of the local leaders favour an electoral alliance with Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, another section feels the Left’s support is the more viable option to form the next government. So, when Rao was asked what his role would be, he replied: “To maintain a balance between the Trinamool and CPI(M). We might need both of them.”
