The 2003 batch of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in Chhattisgarh is considered the luckiest. The state was allotted four officials from this batch and all four have been posted as District Collectors, a powerful and prestigious position within the service. This is the first time so many officials from a single batch are heading district administrations in Chhattisgarh. Coincidence or luck? Indian Police Service (IPS) officials from the same batch have not, however, been so lucky. Only two of the three officials from this batch managed to become chief of the district as Superintendent of Police.
